Use a rucksack instead of a shoulder bag or sports bag to prevent
postural problems or scoliosis.

For good posture, assume the “military position” and then ease
off about 10%

Stretch regularly, especially after a long lesson at your desk.

Never skip breakfast! As well as nourishing your muscles and bones,
decent nutrition is essential for high academic performance at
school.

Warm up before and cool down after sports

Don’t buy school shoes or trainers off the rack, always have them
professionally fitted.

If you have a choice, pick a chair where your elbows, when down
by your side are at the same level as the desk.
8.
Sit on the edge of the seat when writing or drawing and sit well
back in the seat when listening.
9.
Use a cushion to support lower back when watching TV.
10.
Don’t spend more than half an hour in one position e.g. playing
on the computer games on the floor.
11.
Tell your parents if you have back pain.
